Many people believe that removing odors is very hard or next to impossible.  However, we at Metro Home Services / Mr. Maid have found that, with the right training, tools, and experience, we can be extremely effective at removing almost any odor. However, odor removal goes far beyond removing the odor. We have 22 years of experience at removing almost any mal-odor.

There are several processes that will remove mal-odors. They are:

Thermal Fogging:
Thermal fogging is an absolute necessity for complete neutralization of smoke and other odors. A thermal fogger is a device that uses heat to produce a fog without degrading the active ingredient. The fog produced follows the same path as smoke and odors, reaching into cracks, crevices and voids. Completely safe and non-toxic, occupants can often return to a fresh, clean, mal-odor free atmosphere within minutes of treatment, reducing the loss of rents or additional living expenses.

Microban / Mold Control:
This is an E.P.A approved disinfectant, fungicide process that rids mildew from basement floors and walls. The application is non-toxic and non-staining. With four out of ten people allergic to mold we suggest you have this done once a year.

Ozone Blaster:
Odor problems originate from airborne or surface contaminants; bacteria, molds and fungus growth, spores, and fumes from chemicals. Each substance or compound, if it has an odor, has its own identifying odor. When the chemical nature of any substance is changed, its odor is changed. When ozone is introduced with the substance it will react and change the odor of that substance.

Ozone kills bacteria, fungus, mold, and virus. Protect business, home, restroom, and kitchen. Most bacteria, fungi, mold, parasites, virus become air-borne. Breathing mold organisms result miserable allergies, coughing, headaches, respiratory sinus problems, contaminate living, work environment.

The Ozone Blaster is intended for use in unoccupied spaces and is ideally applicable for removal of light to moderate chemical and pet odors along with odors resulting from painting or cleaning. Also, it will give a newly vacated piece of real estate – either apartments or homes – a “fresh” smell facilitating a quicker sale.

Biocides:
Biocides are materials which kill or inhibit the growth of micro-organisms.  Most molds, mildews and yeasts create their own odor. When the mold is killed, it will stop producing these odors. 

Counteraction:

Literally means “to work against” is most often used when there are combinations of offensive odors, referred to as complex odors.  Odors caused by decomposition and other biological processes, and also smoke odor, can be highly complex and require 2 or more of the above techniques for effective odor removal.

Bio-enzymatic Digestion:

This is a process where genetically engineered bacteria and enzymes consume the mal-odor producing material.  These can only be used on organic matter, such as animal feces and fuel oil.  Bio-enzymes are used throughout the human body to facilitate digestion, especially in the upper and lower intestines.
